I wanted to start a series on things I would discuss on each day of the week. Starting off with Music Mondays, Testimony Tuesdays, Woman Crush Wednesdays and Devotional Thursday.
And guess what today is?
I was on such a high from writing my last post and God just placed on my heart various topics to touch on and how to make this blog more relatable. I decided to place them into categories to make it a little easier to keep up with. Music Monday is just about songs that have been on my heart lately and just applying them to my life.
Today’s song is Way Maker by Sinach
The chorus states “ Way maker, miracle worker, promise keeper, light in the darkness. My God, that is who you are”. Just wow! This was sung at church yesterday morning and I just about caught the Holy Spirit. It touched me so profoundly that I just cried.
I like to be transparent as much as possible even though this is hard to talk about, but I have to be obedient to what has God has told me.
I have been in such a dry season. Since August. (It’s 2017, I know!)
My emotions have been in rollercoaster and I don’t know when this ride is going to end but I have to trust God and be patient.
Patience sort of, kind of isn’t my thing BUT I’m working on it.
Since the beginning of the New Year, I joined a group chat and all of us are participating in a prayer challenge for the month. It’s called the #4UMovement and when I tell you the blessings and confirmation I have been receiving????? All I can say is, God is ALWAYS on time. (Check out Kiarra’s Blog, creator of #4UMovement: https://unapologeticallyki.wordpress.com).
Each day there is a topic and a bible verse that goes along with it to kind of guide your prayer for the day. One of the topics was patience and I knew immediately why God is allowing me to be in this dry season. Habakkuk 2:3 states “This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed”(NLT). I was like okay God, what you mean is that my time is coming all I have to do is wait? But I’ve been waiting for MONTHS! When is my time coming? I see all over Instagram and Facebook that my friends and family are climbing up the success ladder and I’m just here, stuck. You know what He said? Your spiritual bank account is empty. Now THAT hit me like a tow truck. So I brought my complaining down to a minimum, read my devotions, try to pray for an hour each day just constantly being in his presence. When your spiritual bank account is empty, there is not much God can pull from.
In the bible is says that faith without work is dead (James 2: 14- 17 NLT)so having faith is not enough. It is a great start but HOW are you applying in to your life and to others? God sees everything that we do. I cannot say I believe in God and just expect Him to move mountains for me. Is He willing to do so? Yes because I am His daughter but He is not a genie that will grant me wishes whenever I please. A relationship with God is a two-way street. You talk to Him by praying, worship, fasting and being obedient and He rewards you with blessings. So with getting that very hard reality check, I had to look at myself and see what I am contributing to this relationship. I can’t keeping asking God to deliver me without giving Him all of me. THAT’S why I was on this journey and still am. Going through test and trials, making sure that I can handle and be trusted with the blessing God is going to place in my life.
Now where this song comes in is that it was a confirmation for me. God will keep his promise. I will not be in the dry season for long; I’m declaring that for myself and for any one who reads this post. God moves in silence, we just have to continue trusting in Him especially during these times. I feel that blessings are coming down and we will reach a level that will all make sense in the end.
I pray that you find a place where you can say, you know what God, I trust you. You knew me before I was formed in the womb (Jeremiah 1:5). You have perfectly constructed my life for your purpose and kingdom. I believe in your word and I know you are faithful.
Trust me, it won’t be easy. The enemy will attack you every chance he can get. Our job is to constantly be in Gods presence and surround ourselves with others who are trying to build us up in prayer. When we have that, we gain Love (Romans 12:9), Joy (Romans 15:13) and Peace (Colossians 3:15).
Here are some verses that can help you through your dry season:
