I have started this blog just a few weeks ago and just went right into pouring my heart out and never really explained why or how StolenQueens came about. This is how it all began.
One day, an old friend of mine and I were just relaxing after class and we were upset about what was going on in the States in terms of police brutality. We were more upset at the fact that Canadians weren’t taking a stand or having a conversation about it at all. The conversation grew into us talking about colonialism, systemic racism and what it is to be a black woman, so we created StolenQueens. Our first post was just a rant about police brutality and that was that. This happened about 4 years ago.
As I have mentioned in a previous blog, God has been calling me to do this for a very long time and I tried everything in my power to ignore it. I’ve had a niche for writing, mainly poetry, especially when I’m upset and conveyed that to the best of my ability. A lot of my friends would tell me how amazing I am and should continue to write but I never thought I could.
Fast forward to the present time, I met this wonderful guy (currently my boyfriend) and he is also a writer so he sent me his novel to read (FANTASTIC by the way). I was so inspired by him that I wrote a book about how we met. He was so blown away about it and encouraged me to write and yet, I didn’t listen.
A few months after that, I was added to this group chat that was going a prayer challenge in January and the person who created it also has a blog. After reading it, something moved in me to start my own. I wrote my first blog and it got some much praise that I wrote another one. At some point I wanted to give up and the enemy knew that so he did everything in his might to tear me down. Little did he know I serve a mighty and powerful God. I wrote about this on my post ‘Back and Better’.
StolenQueens means so much to me to the point where before I post, I always pray that someone is touched by what I am writing. I wanted this thing to blow up, I wanted to be famous and have a clothing line with logos, the whole nine. Then I realized, all I need is one person to be blessed by this and I have done my job.
I want this brand and what I am doing to be so transparent because I find that people who are on their spiritual walk feel like they have to be perfect. I am blessed, sanctified with a sprinkle of holy hands rated E for everyone. I am nowhere near perfect and frankly, I don’t want to be because I know I can never obtain that until I am seated with the Father in heaven.
I want SQ to be a place where woman of ALL faiths, can have a safe place to express their thoughts and concerns about the world. I am an honest individual and want that to be shown through every post I write.
This is my God-given gift. I want to help encourage, empower and inspire women (and men) to find theirs through scriptures. I want to show God’s love. I want to be there for people in any and every way.
That is what StolenQueens is about.
This journey is so fulfilling because I know I am following what God has planned for me. Over time, I have gathered a few verses that really spoke to my spirit and want to share them with you:
- Jeremiah 29:11
- Proverbs 19:21
- Jeremiah 1:5-10
I always say, when God speaks I listen because without Him, NONE of this would be possible. I want to touch so many souls and I know I have to trust in Him to do so. I aspire to heal, transform and grow Queens.
You are not property, but an empress.
Songs of Solomon 4:7 NLT
You are altogether beautiful, my darling,
beautiful in every way
